Wah Yan (H.K.) Past Students Association is a limited company incorporated in 1969.The management of the affairs of the Association is vested in the Council. The Council consists of a Chairman, a Vice-Chairman, an Honorary Secretary, an Honorary Treasurer and not more than 35 other Members. For the purpose of the Companies Ordinance, they are the directors of the Association. However, their services are voluntary and are not paid. Council Members are elected at the Annual General Meeting normally held in June each year.
The Council normally meets in the evening of every second working Monday of the month. In addition, there are a number of committees and sub-committees each overseeing a particular function e.g. Secretariat, Finance, Liaison, Publications and Recreation. The heavy workload of the Honorary Secretary is shared by the Secretariat with our Membership Registrar.
Each year, the Council nominates a President and two Vice-Presidents. Apart from one of the VPs which must be the school principal, they are usually ex-Chairmen of the Council who provide wise counsel and ensure continuity of business.
The Association issues a periodic newsletter called the Wahyanites which is usually published 3 times annually.
